About Us

Saint Angela Merici School exists
to serve the educational and spiritual needs of the children,
and its model and hope is Jesus Christ. As a Catholic School,
the school community believes in, upholds and defends the
human dignity of all the members of the community.
Saint Angela Merici School is a member of the Archdiocese of
New York, the Association of Catholic Schools, the Association
of South Bronx Catholic Schools, and within the requirements
of educational law, the New York State Department of
Education, and operates under their respective jurisdictions.
All members of the Saint Angela Merici School community
recognize and accept the firm union with the Roman Catholic
Church, and with the Archdiocese of New York.
Founded in 1904 by the Sisters of the Order of Saint Ursula,
the schools character and purpose are and always have been
shaped by the Gospel message, that God is compassion and love,
that the world is created by and sustained by God, and that
human beings realize their truest selves in this light.
Individual members of the constituents parts recognize that
they are subject to the policies and procedures stated in this
handbook. Employees, families and all who voluntarily seek
association with our school accept their responsibility, to
fulfill to the best of their abilities, their obligations to
the children, to themselves, to the school community, and to
God.
